The \u201cLost\u201d star, now 59, stepped back from acting for more than a decade despite starring in one of TV\u2019s biggest hits<\/a>, as Dr. Jack Shepard.<\/p>\n Fox, who is returning to the spotlight with a role in \u201cYellowstone\u201d spinoff \u201cThe Madison\u201d<\/a>, opened up about his decision to take an acting hiatus while attending the New York premiere of his new show on Monday.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt like it was time to engage really intensely with my family,\u201d he told Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cLost\u201d actor Matthew Fox is making a long-awaited return to TV in \u201cYellowstone\u201d spinoff \u201cThe Madison\u201d. Scott A Garfitt\/Invision\/AP<\/p>\n Fox admitted his demanding schedule during the height of \u201cLost\u201d meant he missed parts of his children\u2019s younger years.<\/p>\n \u201cI had missed some of their childhood because I was on set all the time with \u201cLost\u201d and doing films and promoting everything,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was the right moment for me to step back and take a moment and engage with the people that I love and care about the most in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n After more than a decade away from regular TV work, Fox said he eventually began to miss the craft.<\/p>\n Fox returned to television in 2022 with the series \u201cLast Light,\u201d<\/a> marking his first TV role since \u201cLost\u201d ended in 2010.
