THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Jason Franson<\/p>\n<p>By The Canadian Press<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\tMar 11, 2026 | 8:45 AM\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>PORT HARDY \u2014 A Prince Rupert, B.C., man has been arrested and charged with murder in the killing of an 84-year-old man who was found gravely injured on Vancouver Island almost two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Port Hardy RCMP say the 54-year-old suspect was arrested in Prince Rupert last Friday without incident.<\/p>\n<p>Police in the Port Hardy in the far north of Vancouver Island had received a report of an injured man on a path on Oct. 6, 2024, and the victim was taken to hospital where he died.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was identified as a man who had been living in Port Hardy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An RCMP collar tab pin is seen in Edmonton, Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025.
