A Surrey woman\u2019s former partner has been charged with second-degree murder, nearly two years after her remains were found in Richmond.<\/p>\n
On Feb. 23, 2024, 28-year-old Navdeep Kaur\u2019s family reported her disappearance to the Surrey RCMP.<\/p>\n
The Lower Mainland\u2019s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the case in March, after police found evidence that Kaur may have been a \u201cvictim of foul play.\u201d<\/p>\n
In July, 2024, the Richmond RCMP began investigating after the discovery of human remains on the shore of an industrial area north east of the George Massey Tunnel.<\/p>\n
IHIT confirmed those were the remains of Kaur several months later, in November, 2024.<\/p>\n
Investigators say it took several months to piece together a timeline of events, but the evidence submitted resulted in the BC Prosecution Service finally charging Kaur\u2019s former partner, 24-year-old Amarbir Singh, with her murder this month.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe two were in a relationship at the time of Ms. Kaur\u2019s disappearance,\u201d IHIT added in an update Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Police say Singh is now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are aware that Mr. Singh may have fled the country, but that will not stop us from pursuing him,\u201d said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to actively track him down, and we are fully prepared to work with our law enforcement counterparts overseas to bring him before the Court.\u201d<\/p>\n
Investigators are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4488).<\/p>\n
