{"id":531594,"date":"2026-03-12T14:45:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T14:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/531594\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T14:45:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T14:45:08","slug":"up-and-down-gas-prices-as-war-in-iran-intensifies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/531594\/","title":{"rendered":"Up and down gas prices as war in Iran intensifies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gas prices in the nation\u2019s capital are set to rise again, a day after drivers got temporary relief at the pumps overnight.<\/p>\n<p>Roger McKnight, chief petroleum analyst with En-Pro,\u00a0tells CityNews that prices are expected to rise five cents on Friday, to an average of 155.9 cents\/litre at local stations.<\/p>\n<p>This increase comes as drivers saw<a href=\"https:\/\/toronto.citynews.ca\/2026\/03\/11\/toronto-gta-gas-prices-this-week-drop-6-cents-us-iran-crude-oil\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> a noticeable dip at the pumps on Thursday<\/a>, with gas prices falling six cents a litre to 150.9\u00a0cent(s)\/litre.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ottawa.citynews.ca\/gas-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Click here<\/a> for the latest gas price updates.<\/p>\n<p>Oil and gasoline\u00a0prices\u00a0have been rising as the war in Iran intensifies and other global conflicts affect supply, which means pain at the pump for drivers filling up with\u00a0gas.<\/p>\n<p>The price of a barrel of Brent crude oil, the international standard, topped $100 a barrel again on Thursday, jolting markets just days after it spiked near $120. Oil\u00a0prices\u00a0shot more than nine per cent higher early in the day as supply concerns worsened with Iranian attacks on commercial shipping around the Strait of Hormuz.
