A big blast of winter has returned to Calgary Thursday morning. <\/p>\n
Calgarians woke up to wet and heavy snow on the roads. <\/p>\n
Snowfall warnings are blanketing areas outside of the city, but the city itself has been spared so far. <\/p>\n
Since midnight, Environment and Climate Change Canada says there has been around five centimetres in parts of the city. Areas north and south of Calgary could see a lot more when all is said and done. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re expecting to see 15-20 centimetres for some areas to the north and east of the city,\u201d said meteorologist Erin Staunton. \u201cSo, if you are going to be out on the highway on this morning, out of town as well, definitely be sure to check the latest alert.\u201d<\/p>\n
She adds that January and the start of February were abnormally warm in the city, and while the last few weeks of weather have been very hit-or-miss, that\u2019s nothing unusual. <\/p>\n
March typically sees a decent amount of snow, Staunton said. <\/p>\n
Environment Canada says the next few days could be dreary, grey, and snowy, with the possibility of another blanket of snow in the next few days. <\/p>\n
A reprieve could come next week with the return of double-digit temperatures. <\/p>\n
Drivers on the roads inside and outside the city this morning should use caution and drive to the conditions. <\/p>\n
