Nearly three months to the date that One Chicago Center first broke the news that Jeanine Mason had joined the cast<\/a> of Chicago Fire season 14, we finally met Mason\u2019s mystery character \u2013 one who could end up playing a key role in the episodes ahead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Back in December, it was revealed that Mason had joined the cast in an undisclosed role, with Miranda Rae Mayo casually teasing Mason\u2019s addition to the cast. Via an Instagram Stories post, Mayo offered up a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Mason and herself alongside fellow Chicago Fire star David Eigenberg and director Anthony Nardolillo. At the time, little information about Mason\u2019s role was known, but those answers were finally provided in Chicago Fire season 14, episode 14, \u201cHit and Run,\u201d as Mason made her debut as Lucy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Early in the episode it\u2019s revealed that Lucy had been hired by the CFD as an assistant to Chief Pascal<\/a>. She was originally intended to start weeks ago, but the paperwork was delayed due to the administrative backlog at headquarters amid the ongoing CFD budget cuts. Lucy arrived slightly nervous about this being her first government job but eager to make an impact in her role.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the timing of her arrival came as Pascal was notified he was being relieved of duty<\/a> and terminated from his position within the CFD as a result of the actions he took in disobeying a direct order from the FBI. When Pascal relayed the disappointing news to Lucy that today was his last day and, expectedly, hers as well, given he\u2019d no longer need an assistant, she didn\u2019t choose to walk away. Instead, she immediately threw herself into her work, helping Pascal to tie up all the loose ends on his plate during his final shift at Firehouse 51 and with the CFD.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Amid the chaos around her, Lucy rose to the challenge and helped Pascal cross off all the items on his list as she assisted with finalizing paperwork and getting the firehouse in order ahead of his departure. Not only did she help Pascal with all of his tasks, but Lucy quickly made it clear she has no plans to let the CFD\u2019s administration error be the end of her time at 51. As she told Severide, the brass will have to drag her out of 51 after all she went through to land the job.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear how many episodes Lucy will appear in, but Mason seemed to hint via her Instagram Stories that this is just the beginning of her time on the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Given that Mason noted her role starts tonight, referring to episode 14, this seems to confirm that Lucy will indeed be sticking around for at least a few episodes as season 14 continues! We\u2019re definitely thrilled by the news, as Lucy immediately won us over and is a character who left us wanting more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As Firehouse 51 prepares for a changing of the guard now that Pascal has been fired, they\u2019re going to need someone to help keep things working smoothly at the firehouse, and Lucy seems more than up for the job! We\u2019re thrilled to have Mason joining the cast in this recurring guest role, and we\u2019re certain those who have been following Mason\u2019s career feel the same.<\/p>\n

While today Mason is best known for her acting work, her journey in the industry actually began when she competed on and won So You Think You Can Dance season 5. After winning the Fox dance competition, Mason set her sights on acting, with her debut coming on the Nickelodeon comedy Big Time Rush. From there, Mason guest starred in a number of titles before landing the role of Cozette in the short-lived dance drama Bunheads. She\u2019d go on to appear in a number of shows<\/a> after, including Major Crimes, NCIS: Los Angeles, Of Kings and Prophets, and Criminal Minds, before landing a recurring role on Grey\u2019s Anatomy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her time on Grey\u2019s was short-lived, but it came as she booked the lead role of Liz Ortecho on The CW\u2019s hit drama Roswell, New Mexico. The series ran for four seasons on The CW before its untimely cancellation following the network\u2019s sale to Nexstar, a sale that led to mass cancellations of CW hits.
