No permit to protest?<\/p>\n
The City of Toronto has not indicated the pro-Iranian regime has a permit for protest and no one in authority has so far answered the question of why shutting down the roadway in a hospital zone is tolerated. Will the shooters of the very consulate they are congregating in front of, or of the other targets, be there?<\/p>\n
They are all out there. With reality and Premier Doug Ford saying there are Iranian \u201csleeper cells\u201d<\/a> in Canada, why would authorities take a chance like this in front of the American consulate? If you were parking out in front of there, Parking Enforcement wouldn\u2019t let you. But, if you take over the whole street, Toronto authority just shrugs its shoulders.<\/p>\n \u201cIn this dangerous environment, Canadian authorities must use every tool available to ensure public safety and protect the public from harm,\u201d said Noah Shack, CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA).<\/p>\n Saying \u201cAl-Quds Day is a byproduct of the Iranian regime\u2019s efforts to spread hate and antisemitism around the world,\u201d Simon Wolle of B\u2019nai Brith Canada adds, \u201cThe recent shootings targeting Jewish-owned businesses and synagogues are a symptom of the climate and culture of antisemitism being fostered across the country\u201d and \u201cunderscores the need for our leaders to act now to protect Canada\u2019s Jewish communities.\u201d<\/p>\n So, what about cancelling this Al-Quds parade like they did in the U.K.<\/a>?<\/p>\n There doesn\u2019t seem to be any will to do that here.<\/p>\n Toronto Police planning for protest<\/p>\n In fact, Toronto Police are set to \u201cprovide update on Operational Planning for Al-Quds Day\u201d at 1:30 p.m.\u201d<\/a> with Supt. Craig Young of Emergency Management and Public Order. A media spokesperson told CP24 there will be a \u201csignificant and visible presence downtown\u201d and a \u201cfocus will be on ensuring public safety, preventing violence, and upholding the law.\u201d<\/p>\n But they already know what Al-Quds is.<\/p>\n \u201cAl Quds Day, which was established in 1979 by Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader as a day calling for the destruction of Israel, is effectively a rally for the Islamic Regime, through which it exports its violent ideology worldwide,\u201d said the CIJA. \u201cAl Quds Day is used as a platform by Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps \u2014 a banned terrorist group in Canada \u2014 to spread its violent ideology, and there are credible reports that as many as 700 individuals linked to the Iranian regime may be in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n At the very least, these protest leaders should be given the same zero tolerance approach as parking violators would and be told they can\u2019t protest at any place of worship or diplomatic office or block any streets. The mayor, the chief of police or the premier have the power to tell them they are entitled to demonstrate but only in a public square or park.<\/p>\n But they have not done that. Ontario Solicitor General Michael Kerzner said, \u201cAny display of antisemitism, intimidation, or the glorification of terrorist groups and their violence is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Ontario\u201d and anybody who crosses the line to \u201cengage in acts of hate, promote extremist ideologies, or incite violence will be held accountable and brought to justice to the fullest extent of the law.\u201d<\/p>\n A man wears a Hezbollah flag as a cape during an al-Quds day rally at Queen\u2019s Park in Toronto on June 9, 2018.<\/p>\n If this statement was directed towards trucker convoy players like Tamara Lich, Harold Jonker, Chris Barber or Pat King,<\/a> the public would believe it. They certainly don\u2019t when it comes to cracking down on antisemites.
