Tens of thousands of homes and businesses in the Lower Mainland are without power Thursday morning following an overnight windstorm.<\/p>\n
Chilliwack was hit hardest, but there are also outages throughout the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, Hope, Mission and Kent, and elsewhere in North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Surrey.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a yellow-level advisory of winds gusting up to 90 kilometres per hour in the eastern Fraser Valley.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal utility outages are possible. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible,\u201d the agency warned. It has since rescinded the advisory.<\/p>\n
BC Hydro says its crews would work to \u201ccomplete repairs and restore service\u201d overnight and through the morning.<\/p>\n
