Mickey Rourke<\/a> is facing eviction after he defaulted on his California eviction case and allegedly failed to pay nearly US$60,000 in rent<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Monday, a judge issued a default eviction ruling in favour of Rourke\u2019s landlord, Eric Goldie, for possession of the home and termination of the rental agreement, according to documents in Los Angeles Superior Court, viewed and obtained by the Los Angeles Times,<\/a> People<\/a> and NBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Global News has not independently viewed the court documents but has reached out to Rourke\u2019s manager Kimberly Hines and his legal representative Bill Sobel for comment.<\/p>\n

The ruling means that the 73-year-old actor failed to take action to defend himself against the eviction complaint within the time allowed by law, the Los Angeles Times reports.<\/p>\n

Rourke claimed in a statement to E! News on Wednesday<\/a> that the reason he stopped paying rent was that \u201cthe living conditions in the house had become unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor months there were serious problems that repeatedly went unaddressed despite my efforts to have them fixed,\u201d the\u00a0Wrestler\u00a0actor said.<\/p>\n

Rourke claimed there were \u201congoing rodent issues\u201d that were \u201cnever fully resolved\u201d and that he was dealing with bathroom and plumbing issues.<\/p>\n

He said he made \u201crepeated requests for repairs,\u201d and alleged that the issues were not fixed and \u201cbasic maintenance was never properly handled.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWithholding rent was not a decision I made lightly,\u201d Rourke added. \u201cI simply could not continue paying for a house that was in such poor condition after so many attempts to have these issues corrected.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Oscar-nominated actor received a three-day notice to pay rent or vacate<\/a> the premises on Dec. 18, 2025 and failed to comply.<\/p>\n

At the time of the notice, Rourke owed US$59,100 in unpaid rent.<\/p>\n

Rourke signed a lease for the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom house through at least April 30 of last year for $5,200 a month, which was subsequently raised to $7,000 a month, according to court documents viewed by the Los Angeles Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Rourke was served with the three-day notice, a GoFundMe was set up for him to help him pay the rent<\/a> and remain in the home, which was organized by Liya-Joelle Jones, an assistant to Hines.<\/p>\n

The GoFundMe had raised more than its goal of $100,000 but donations were paused after Rourke denied any involvement<\/a> in setting up the fundraising page that was allegedly created to help him avoid eviction. The donation page for Rourke is no longer live on the site.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money, like in a charity, and that\u2019s not me, OK?\u201d Rourke said in a video posted to Instagram in January<\/a>. \u201cIf I needed money, I wouldn\u2019t ask for no f\u2014ing charity. I\u2019d rather stick a gun up my a\u2013 and pull the trigger.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever did this \u2026 I don\u2019t know why they did it. I don\u2019t understand it. I wouldn\u2019t know what a GoFund foundation is in a million years,\u201d Rourke continued. \u201cMy life is very simple. I don\u2019t go to outside sources like that. And yeah, it is embarrassing, but I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll get over it like anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n

The donation page description claimed that \u201cMickey Rourke is an icon\u2014but his trajectory, as painful as it is, is also a deeply human one. It is the story of someone who gave everything to his work, took real risks, and paid real costs.\u201d<\/p>\n

It also stated that the goal of the fundraiser was to \u201cgive Mickey stability and peace of mind during an extremely stressful time \u2014 so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet.\u201d<\/p>\n

The GoFundMe page claimed that it was launched with the Oscar-nominated actor\u2019s \u201cfull permission,\u201d and asked fans to \u201chelp Mickey Rourke stay in his home.\u201d<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not the case, according to Rourke, who said at the time that he would speak with his lawyers.<\/p>\n

Rourke claimed he was \u201cin a really bad situation with the place I was renting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything was good for five or six years and then two scumbags from New York bought the house and they wouldn\u2019t fix anything,\u201d Rourke alleged. \u201cI said I\u2019m not paying rent because there\u2019s mice, there\u2019s rats, the floor was rotten\u2026. We\u2019re going to go to court but I would never ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel. I mean, that\u2019s not my style. You ask anybody that knows me, it\u2019s humiliating and it\u2019s really f\u2014ing embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rourke\u2019s manager Hines told Deadline<\/a> that her team created the page \u201cin an act of desperation\u201d after Rourke was served with an eviction notice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to do the best that we can,\u201d Hines said. \u201cMy assistant started it to help Mickey as a nice gesture because he was being forced out of his home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hines said the GoFundMe \u201cwas not done with any mal intent.\u201d<\/p>\n
