{"id":531984,"date":"2026-03-12T18:44:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T18:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/531984\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T18:44:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T18:44:13","slug":"30k-worth-of-stolen-butter-booze-and-ghee-leads-to-charges-for-brampton-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/531984\/","title":{"rendered":"$30K worth of stolen butter, booze and ghee leads to charges for Brampton man"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The seizure of stolen alcohol, butter and ghee worth some $30,000 has led to charges for a man from Brampton, police say.<\/p>\n<p>The three-month-long investigation into retail thefts and the distribution of stolen goods came to a head March 9, when Peel Regional Police say they raided a Brampton home.<\/p>\n<p>The search led officers to 300 bottles of booze, 100 bricks of butter and 91 tubs of ghee \u2013 a type of clarified butter used by the South Asian community.<\/p>\n<p>Ghee is sometimes stolen by thieves and sold to another establishment or to a restaurant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insauga.com\/600-worth-of-stolen-butter-leads-to-charge-for-brampton-man-police\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Some $600 worth of stolen butter led to the arrest of a Brampton man in June<\/a>, and two men from Brampton and one from Caledon charged in 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insauga.com\/butter-and-ghee-theft-leads-to-charges-against-brampton-area-men\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">after $1,000 worth of butter and ghee was stolen from a store in the Georgian Bay area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Police say a 48-year-old man from Brampton was arrested and charged following the March 9 raid.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vidyard-player-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1773341051_355_awZCW3rPmWvxPqZHnBCKLu.jpg\" data-videoid=\"790139\" data-uuid=\"awZCW3rPmWvxPqZHnBCKLu\" data-v=\"4\" data-type=\"inline\" data-muted=\"1\" style=\"width:100%\"\/>    <\/p>\n<p>        <img width=\"1024\" height=\"513\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-30-at-1.55.02-PM-1024x513.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>      <\/p>\n<p>Peel police say Pintu Gohil, 48, of Brampton, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.<\/p>\n<p>The accused was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Brampton on April 7.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information about this incident can contact Peel Regional Police by calling 905-453-2121 ext. 1200.
