An incident that began as a rear-ender in North Vancouver resulted in two people being arrested for drug trafficking, the RCMP says.<\/p>\n

On March 5, a red Mini Cooper rear-ended a marked police vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of Keith Road and Mountain Highway.<\/p>\n

When officers went to check on the driver of the Mini Cooper, they saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the car.<\/p>\n

Police say the driver and passenger of the car, who are both from the North Shore, were arrested for drug possession.<\/p>\n

After searching the car, officers found and seized fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine, cash, and \u201cevidence consistent with drug trafficking.\u201d<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Police say the suspects were released at the scene pending the results of an investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis incident shows how routine calls can quickly turn into something far more serious,\u201d said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP.<\/p>\n

\u201cRear-ending a marked police car isn\u2019t a recommended life choice, but in this case it did make it remarkably easy for officers to intercept harmful drugs before they reached the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
