Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are set to face off in a bout, though a date has not yet been confirmed.<\/p>\n

The boxing<\/a> legends will be clashing in an exhibition in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the same ring which hosted Muhammad Ali’s iconic Rumble in the Jungle match against George Foreman in 1974.<\/p>\n

Mayweather<\/a>, 49, and his 50-0 record as well Tyson’s 50-7 record, will remain untouched due to the bout being an exhibition.<\/p>\n

But as it is an exhibition, it means that the fighters can move beyond the regular rules and regulations usually in place for a professional boxing match<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It has recently reported that Tyson<\/a>, 59, had sustained an injury and sported a cast on the Ariel Helwani Show<\/a>, explaining: “It\u2019s just a little sprain. I\u2019ve got to go hard. It\u2019s the only way I know how to go.”<\/p>\n

The former undisputed world heavyweight champion then revealed that there was no weight limit in place for the bout, despite Tyson operating five divisions above Mayweather.<\/p>\n

He told the Canadian journalist: “It\u2019s just free fighting, catchweight, everything…”<\/p>\n

Tyson, who last fought against Jake Paul<\/a> in 2024, said that his match against Mayweather could be his final appearance in the ring.<\/p>\n

While on the show, he also criticised the state of boxing nowadays, saying: “This is what fighters should be thinking right now about me. \u2018How can this guy be 60 years old and break all the records?\u2019 They should be disappointed with themselves.”<\/p>\n

He claimed that they only ‘fight once or twice a year’, claiming: “No one knows who they are. They need to have a story behind them.”<\/p>\n

Tyson added: “It\u2019s not that they\u2019re getting paid too much, they just don\u2019t wanna do it. If you like getting paid a lot of money, why not do that three times a year instead of once? <\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a no-lose situation. It\u2019s all up, all a win. You\u2019re fighting, getting in shape, and getting paid more money than you ever did before.”<\/p>\n

The sports icon added that he just wants to ‘compete against people’ and he wants to ‘see if anyone is bigger than me’, concluding: “My talent speaks for itself.”<\/p>\n

According to Ring Magazine<\/a>, his fight with Mayweather was ‘tentatively’ set for 25 April, though this is still yet to be confirmed, as several sources have since claimed that this date is now unlikely.<\/p>\n

When Tyson was asked by Helwani if the fight was happening on 25 April, he answered: “I believe so.”<\/p>\n

He was also asked about whether his injury could push the date back, as he ominously replied: “We will see…<\/p>\n

“That’s something I signed for already; it is going to go down in Africa… It’s going to be pretty interesting.
