{"id":533795,"date":"2026-03-13T13:55:18","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T13:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/533795\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T13:55:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T13:55:18","slug":"ottawa-to-announce-550m-in-funding-for-canadian-research-projects-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/533795\/","title":{"rendered":"Ottawa to announce $550M in funding for Canadian research projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ottawa is expected to announce $552 million in funding for academic research projects this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government is set to name the projects getting funding through the Canadian Foundation for Innovation at an event at the University of Sherbrooke.<\/p>\n<p>The money, distributed through the Innovation Fund, is being put toward dozens of research projects in life sciences, engineering and other fields at higher education institutions across Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Funding competitions through the program are typically held every two years and are meant to help researchers acquire equipment, tools and labs for their studies.<\/p>\n<p>One such project granted funding would give University of British Columbia researchers new tools related to quantum technology.<\/p>\n<p>Another is for new underwater drones at Dalhousie University for monitoring marine life \u2014 research that has practical applications in conservation, fisheries management and infrastructure development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ottawa is expected to announce $552 million in funding for academic research projects this morning.
