The Toronto Zoo is asking for the public’s help naming a baby giraffe. <\/p>\n

The Toronto Zoo has narrowed the list down to five possible names for its baby Masai giraffe and members of the public can now have their say on what to call the zoo\u2019s newest addition.<\/p>\n

The zoo is running an online poll until March 23, allowing people to cast their ballot<\/a> for the name of its \u201cnewest and tallest arrival.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so grateful for our partners at the Kenyan Honorary Consulate in Toronto for their suggestions and support in selecting name options for this beautiful giraffe calf,\u201d a news release issued by the zoo this week said.<\/p>\n

The names include Binti, meaning daughter, Imara, meaning strong, firm, and resilient, Neema, which stands for grace, Nyota, meaning star, and Sanaa, which represents beauty and art.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeginning this Friday, March 13th, Toronto Zoo guests can visit the indoor giraffe habitat in the Africa Savanna between 11a.m. and 3 p.m. for their first chance to see the six-foot-four inch baby giraffe up close,\u201d the news release read.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe timing couldn\u2019t be better, as this schedule will continue right through March Break, giving families plenty of opportunities to stop by and say hello.\u201d <\/p>\n

The giraffe\u2019s arrival comes just months after her father, Kiko, died <\/a>from cardiac failure linked with acute muscle exertion following an incident on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

The Zoo previously confirmed that the 13-year-old giraffe\u2019s head became trapped in a small gap between the slide\/shift door and a vertical post as the door was opening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Toronto Zoo is asking for the public’s help naming a baby giraffe.
