{"id":534171,"date":"2026-03-13T17:55:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T17:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/534171\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T17:55:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T17:55:16","slug":"botched-theft-from-business-leads-to-charge-for-brampton-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/534171\/","title":{"rendered":"Botched theft from business leads to charge for Brampton man"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Peterborough have charged a Brampton man after receiving call about a theft-in-progress at a local business.<\/p>\n<p>The theft happened around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday at a business in the Lansdowne Street and Park Street area, the Peterborough Police Service says.<\/p>\n<p>Officers received a call about a theft and when police arrived on the scene they found a male suspect matching the alleged thief\u2019s description walking nearby on Lansdowne Street.<\/p>\n<p>Police took the man into custody and say they recovered an item from the business during the arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Peterborough police say a 25-year-old man from Brampton has been charged with theft under $5,000. The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to make a court appearance on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information about this incident can contact Peterborough police by calling 705-876-1122 ext. 225.
