A fresh issue may have arose for the planned Mike Tyson<\/a> vs. Floyd Mayweather fight.<\/p>\n

It was announced back in September<\/a> that Tyson and Mayweather were set to meet in an exhibition bout, before it was reported earlier this year that it was planned for April 25 in the Congo.<\/p>\n

Tyson was last in action in November 2024 when he took part in a controversial bout against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, suffering a unanimous decision defeat in what was his first professional fight since 2005.<\/p>\n

As for Mayweather, he has taken part in a number of exhibitions since retiring in 2017, but is set to return to professional boxing for the first time in nearly a decade when he faces former rival Manny Pacquiao in a rematch at The Sphere in Las Vegas on September 19.<\/p>\n

The fight against \u2018Iron Mike\u2019 was set to kick off a busy year for Mayweather, with an exhibition also planned against Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis in June, but a potential problem has now emerged that could affect the clash with Tyson.<\/p>\n

Whilst speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show<\/a>, Tyson was seen wearing a cast on his hand, and revealed how it had occurred.<\/p>\n

\u201cTraining, punching stuff. Just a little sprain, I have to go hard, it\u2019s the only way I\u2019ve got to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyson was then asked if the hand injury could affect the date of the fight.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

It has recently been reported that the fight could be unlikely for the planned April date<\/a>, but with Mayweather already having further bouts pencilled in for June and September, an injury to \u2018Iron Mike\u2019 could be difficult to fit back into the schedule.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A fresh issue may have arose for the planned Mike Tyson vs. Floyd Mayweather fight.
