Oilers lineup update: Nugent-Hopkins out for personal reasons, Jones recalled to play vs. Blues<\/p>\n

The Oilers recalled Max Jones from the Bakersfield Condors, while also placing Colton Dach on long-term injured reserve.\u00a0Jones will fill in a roster spot in place of Nugent-Hopkins, according to Oilers broadcaster Jack Michaels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The reason for Nuge\u2019s absence is due to a personal matter, according to Paige Martin, citing Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch, and he is flying back to Edmonton. His absence from the team\u2019s top line will cause Knoblauch to shuffle the lines once again, who has been conjuring new lineups with recent injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lineup notes for @EdmontonOilers<\/a> vs. St. Louis from Kris Knoblauch:<\/p>\n

– Ryan Nugent-Hopkins won\u2019t be in the lineup tonight. He\u2019s gone back to Edmonton for what Kris referred to as a personal matter
\n– Max Jones has been called up and will play tonight
\n– Ingram starts<\/p>\n

#Oilers<\/a><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Max Jones has 10 goals and 18 points with the Condors this season. He\u2019s suited up with the Oilers eight times this season, scoring once while adding an assist. His last game was against the Boston Bruins on December 31.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In total, Jones has played 27 games with the Oilers since being acquired from the Boston Bruins in March 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dach left the action early on Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche after playing three shifts with an undisclosed injury. He, along with fellow injured teammate Ty Emberson, flew back to Edmonton<\/a> already for further evaluations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nugent-Hopkins, meanwhile, has been having a strong offensive season for the Oilers, scoring 17 goals and 50 points in 57 games, already surpassing his assist and point totals from the year before when he played 78 games. In fact, his .88 points per game pace is the third-highest of his career, behind the 2022-23 season (1.27) when he scored 37 goals and 104 points in 82 games, and the 2019-20 season (.94), when he scored 22 goals and 61 points in 65 games.<\/p>\n
