The City of Calgary has issued a boil water advisory affecting roughly 500 residences and businesses in several southwest communities due to a broken service line and water main \u201cdisruption\u201d on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
The advisory applies to the community of Spruce Cliff and parts of Wildwood and Rosscarrock, and is expected to remain in place for at least three days.<\/p>\n
In a news release Friday, the city said a water service line broke on a private property earlier in the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the course of shutting off water to the affected property, there was a disruption to the water main supplying drinking water to the wider area,\u201d the city said.<\/p>\n
Water service was expected to be restored Friday afternoon, however, Alberta Health Services ordered the boil water advisory as a \u201cprecautionary measure,\u201d the city said.<\/p>\n
The advisory is not related to the Bearspaw South feeder main, the release states.<\/p>\n
Residences and businesses within the affected area are being advised to bring all tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, cleaning raw foods or making ice.<\/p>\n
\u201cResidents and businesses may instead choose to purchase bottled water for consumption for the duration of this advisory,\u201d the City said.<\/p>\n
