{"id":535215,"date":"2026-03-14T04:59:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T04:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/535215\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T04:59:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T04:59:15","slug":"surrey-police-bust-dozens-of-drivers-for-excessive-speeding-in-just-4-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/535215\/","title":{"rendered":"Surrey police bust dozens of drivers for excessive speeding in just 4 days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Surrey say they pulled more than two dozen drivers off the road for excessive speeding in just four days.<\/p>\n<p>From March 6 to March 9, traffic enforcement officers with the Surrey Police Service (SPS) charged 25 drivers with excessive speeding and impounded their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>SPS media liaison Ian MacDonald says the numbers are shocking, especially because most of those charged were new drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s quite alarming and concerning and obviously an indication that our road safety section must continue monitoring and charging drivers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Four vehicles were caught doing more than double the posted limit, and 12 were travelling faster than the highest legal limit in Canada, which is 120 km\/hr and found on the Coquihalla Highway.<\/p>\n<p>One driver, who was observed going in excess of 180 km\/hour in an 80 km\/hour zone, did not have insurance.
