{"id":535315,"date":"2026-03-14T06:06:26","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T06:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/535315\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T06:06:26","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T06:06:26","slug":"stolen-cards-used-in-booze-spending-spree-after-calgary-womans-car-broken-into","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/535315\/","title":{"rendered":"Stolen cards used in booze spending spree after Calgary woman\u2019s car broken into"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An afternoon walk in the park turned into a costly ordeal for a Calgary woman after her car was broken into and her partner\u2019s stolen credit cards were used to buy hundreds of dollars\u2019 worth of alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>Cassandra Bullis says she and her partner were attending Edworthy Park on March 3 when thieves shattered her car window and made off with a bag containing ID, bank cards, medications, a water bottle, and even a cane. <\/p>\n<p>When they returned to the vehicle, she says they found a pile of broken glass.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey used like a crowbar and popped the window out,\u201d Bullis said. \u201cWe came back into the pile of glasses\u2026 didn\u2019t realize it was my car. (Supplied\/Cassandra Bullis)<\/p>\n<p>Calgary police say the stolen cards were used almost immediately at two nearby liquor stores, where the suspect purchased eight to nine bottles of vodka. <\/p>\n<p>One store provided CCTV footage showing the suspect and the vehicle involved. Police confirm the person in the footage is the theft and fraud suspect and say investigators are now working to identify the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Bullis says the financial hit has been significant. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe just went and bought a bunch of alcohol with it\u2026 having a party on my partner\u2019s dime,\u201d she said. \u201cI work three separate jobs, so having to replace all this stuff\u2026 the window alone is $1,400.
