The glass surround looks nice but this area causes the phone to be lopsided on a table and it wobbles when you press on the display. The colors from the S26 Ultra are too oversaturated, resulting in an unrealistic image that\u2019s somewhat blurred. The iPhone 17 Pro Max\u2019s photo looks more natural.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-82bcd0bc-5d9b-48c1-a37e-95c0aef61309\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"68d62646-9822-4f89-8be6-f5b0c43c2922\">How about close-ups? The iPhone 17 Pro Max wins with this shot of a flower. The iPhone\u2019s photo is considerably brighter and the artificial flowers look fairly sharp, but the striations in the lamp look clearer through the Samsung.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-67ed8ace-e47b-418e-bf7a-42c05e5f74bf\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"0db90ba7-5ee0-4687-a7d5-6937e1d96bca\">The S26 Ultra wins when it comes to zoom performance. You can make out the letters in the sign at 10x much better through Samsung\u2019s telephoto lens, as well as the paint on the posts.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-478040c3-06d4-4d09-a8d2-6ba1fc79bc96\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"b1fe79c4-6896-4027-a9e4-7b28f1f5a387\">At 40x Samsung surges even further ahead of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, though there\u2019s certainly some sharpening processing going on here. Plus, the S26 Ultra can go up to 100x.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-0ca06a66-036a-4b16-b16a-fc52122f4665\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"5acb3cab-298d-4b56-b455-cd6dc8fc4b0d\">The Galaxy S26 Ultra does a pretty good job with skin tones, as you can see in this portrait shot. It\u2019s a more even exposure and you can see more detail in my face, whereas the iPhone 17 Pro Max has more shadows.
