{"id":535514,"date":"2026-03-14T08:20:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T08:20:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/535514\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T08:20:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T08:20:20","slug":"d-backs-gabriel-moreno-out-with-forearm-tightness-set-for-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/535514\/","title":{"rendered":"D-backs&#8217; Gabriel Moreno out with forearm tightness, set for testing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mar 13, 2026, 10:19 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>SURPRISE, Ariz. &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/ari\/arizona-diamondbacks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> catcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42464\/gabriel-moreno\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gabriel Moreno<\/a> was a late scratch from Friday&#8217;s game against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/kc\/kansas-city-royals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas City Royals<\/a> because of right forearm tightness, manager Torey Lovullo said.<\/p>\n<p>Lovullo told reporters that the 2023 Gold Glove winner had been dealing with the injury for a few days and would have imaging done on Friday night. First baseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/40767\/pavin-smith\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pavin Smith<\/a> was also scratched because of left forearm tightness, but did not need any tests.<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old Moreno is expected to be the D-backs&#8217; main catcher this season, but has had a tough time staying healthy over the past two seasons. He hit .285 with nine homers and 40 RBI in 83 games in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Smith, 30, is expected to split time between first base and designated hitter.
