Apple\u2019s Passwords app has become my full-time password manager<\/a> thanks to several iOS 26 changes. And there\u2019s one welcome new feature I recently discovered that can prevent the headache of a forgotten password loop.<\/p>\n iOS 26 adds hub for new passwords that haven\u2019t fully saved<\/p>\n Have you ever had Apple Passwords generate a new password that didn\u2019t end up being saved correctly?<\/p>\n Sometimes a website crashes at the wrong moment, or uses protocols that don\u2019t exactly play nice with Apple Passwords. I\u2019ve had this happen several times since Apple Passwords first launched. And it always causes a bit of a headache.<\/p>\n Why?<\/p>\n Because the new password that was generated ends up being lost. Thus, I have to go through the hassle of a \u201cForgot your password?\u201d loop\u2014waiting for the password reset email, setting a new password, and hoping it saves properly the second time.<\/p>\n But in iOS 26, Apple Passwords added a new feature that can help.<\/p>\n Now, when new passwords have been generated in iOS, but aren\u2019t fully saved inside the Passwords app, you\u2019ll find them behind a new menu option.<\/p>\n Available behind the three-dot icon in Passwords\u2019 top-right corner, you\u2019ll see a \u2018Generated Passwords\u2019 option.<\/p>\n In early versions of iOS 26, this option only appeared when a new password had been generated recently. But as of iOS 26.4, Apple has started showing it persistently\u2014but grayed out unless there are recent passwords to view.<\/p>\n When the \u2018Generated Passwords\u2019 menu is accessible, here\u2019s what it does.<\/p>\n If you have recently generated a password, opening the menu shows the website that password was created for, how long ago it was created, and options to Save or Delete it.<\/p>\n From the in-app description:<\/p>\n Strong passwords that your devices create are kept here for 30 days. Save them to make them available for AutoFill on all your devices.<\/p>\n If you choose to save the password, you\u2019ll be asked to enter a user name and other optional details to create a proper login entry in the app.<\/p>\n I wish Apple made the menu more prominent when it has generated something new. For example, a little in-app badge on the top-right menu might be nice to indicate a new password hasn\u2019t been properly saved.<\/p>\n In any case though, once you know about the feature, it can be a life-saver the next time you go looking for a new password inside the app.<\/p>\n Have you used iOS 26\u2019s new Generated Passwords feature before?
