{"id":536060,"date":"2026-03-14T14:38:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T14:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536060\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T14:38:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T14:38:15","slug":"police-chase-boar-out-of-shopping-mall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536060\/","title":{"rendered":"Police chase boar out of shopping mall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A wild boar wandered into a Berlin shopping mall\u2019s home decor shop on Friday, sparking a police response that drew in officers and veterinarians equipped with an anaesthetic gun, wooden shields and even a blowgun but ended peacefully.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said they were alerted to the porcine intruder around 9 a.m. (0800 GMT) when it slipped through sliding glass doors into the mall and started rummaging through the aisles, as staff quickly vacated the shop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Berlin\u2019s Tierpark zoo told AFP it deployed a team to the scene in the southeastern Koepenick district but quickly assessed \u201cthat sedating the animal was not possible due to the layout of the premises\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said officers and the zoo team eventually decided it was best to drive the boar out by \u201cconstructing a path using wooden pallets\u201d, adding that \u201cthe wild boar then returned to the forest, which we assume it came from\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It was not the first time a wild boar has roamed built-up areas of the German capital, which is surrounded by woods.
