{"id":536310,"date":"2026-03-14T17:24:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T17:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536310\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T17:24:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T17:24:11","slug":"team-usa-replaces-clayton-kershaw-with-jeff-hoffman-for-wbc-semifinals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536310\/","title":{"rendered":"Team USA replaces Clayton Kershaw with Jeff Hoffman for WBC semifinals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">HOUSTON (AP) \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/player\/clayton-kershaw\/326468\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/player\/clayton-kershaw\/326468\" target=\"_blank\">Clayton Kershaw<\/a> will not be on the United States roster for the World Baseball Classic semifinals, with the retired pitcher being replaced by reliever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/player\/jeff-hoffman\/709602\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/player\/jeff-hoffman\/709602\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Hoffman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The U.S. made the move after its win over Canada on Friday night in advance of its semifinal matchup with the Dominican Republic on Sunday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kershaw, a three-time NL Cy Young award winner, retired at the end of last year after playing 18 MLB seasons.
