{"id":536450,"date":"2026-03-14T19:04:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T19:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536450\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T19:04:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T19:04:07","slug":"team-canada-captures-paralympic-gold-in-wheelchair-curling-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536450\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Canada captures Paralympic gold in wheelchair curling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              Team Canada captures Paralympic gold in wheelchair curling<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 10:40 am Saturday, March 14, 2026<\/p>\n<p>Team Canada came out on top in a back-and-forth championship match against China to win gold in wheelchair curling at the Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The team, co-captained by Spallumcheen\u2019s Ina Forrest, edged China 4-3 with a tiebreaking point in the eighth and final end to win Canada its fourth Paralympic wheelchair curling gold medal and its first since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the third career Paralympic gold medal for Forrest, who was on the teams that won it all in 2010 and 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Team Canada, comprised of skip Mark Ideson, second Forrest, lead Collinda Joseph, and third Jon Thurston, went a perfect 11-0 in the tournament.
