<\/p>\nBreak-and-enter incidents in Mississauga and Brampton have risen by about 13 per cent, with police responding to more than 150 cases over the past 31 days.<\/p>\n
According to Peel Regional Police data, there were 180 incidents which took place from Feb. 14 to March 14.<\/p>\n
Both cities saw their fair share of break-ins, with 103 incidents reported in Mississauga and 77 in Brampton.<\/p>\n
This is up from 159 incidents reported during the same time last month (Jan. 14 to Feb. 14), marking an increase of approximately 13.2 per cent.<\/p>\n

The data further indicates that the following places were targeted:<\/p>\n
76 houses, six apartments, two residential garages or sheds, four restaurants, one factory,\u00a0 one pharmacy, three schools, 10 stores, and eight offices. 60 incidents were listed as \u201cother,\u201d and nine involved \u201cunidentified\u201d businesses.<\/p>\n
As of Saturday, with investigations into the majority of these cases, 150 remain ongoing, 26 are considered solved and four are deemed unsolved.<\/p>\n

Residents are advised to maintain a safe home and prevent break-ins by following these tips provided by police:<\/p>\n
Keep shrubs and hedges around your property maintained to allow for clear lines of sight to all
accessible windows and doors.
\nEnsure garage and screen doors are locked, even while at home.
\nGet to know your neighbours and look out for each other\u2019s properties.
\nConsider installing a second locking device for windows and any sliding doors.<\/p>\n
