{"id":536902,"date":"2026-03-15T00:08:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T00:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536902\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T00:08:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T00:08:11","slug":"spring-break-means-one-of-b-c-s-busiest-travel-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/536902\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring break means one of B.C.&#8217;s busiest travel times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Friday marked the last day of school before kids across British Columbia headed off on spring break, which means it is also one of the province\u2019s busiest travel times of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The Vancouver International Airport expects an estimated 1.2 million passengers to make their way through its terminals over the next two weeks, with some of the more popular international destinations being Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Domestically, Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto top the list.<\/p>\n<p>With around 70,000 people expected at the airport each day over spring break, YVR officials say that while things will be busy, they are taking precautions to allow travellers to move as smoothly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll notice there\u2019s some new technology there for the screening process that will basically mean that people don\u2019t need to take out those fluids, gels, and electronics,\u201d said YVR spokesperson Megan Sutton.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo hopefully that will make that a less stressful experience for travellers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"589\" data-id=\"4405344\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/YVR-international-departures-1024x589.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4405344\"  \/>International departures at YVR on March 13, 2026.
