Slow down: Surrey police charge 25 drivers with excessive speeding in 4 days<\/p>\n

Several motorists in Surrey were reminded that they need to slow down, as 25 drivers were charged with excessive speed in just a four-day period.<\/p>\n
And some of them didn\u2019t even have a driver\u2019s license or insurance.<\/p>\n
Excessive speeding continues to be a concerning trend in Surrey, a Surrey Police Service release noted, and SPS\u2019s Road Safety Section \u201chas zero tolerance for dangerous driving behaviours.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTravelling at high speeds that vastly exceed the posted speed limit have no place in our community and drivers who make the choice to put the community at risk will be held accountable for their driving behaviour,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n
Between March 6 to 9 SPS\u2019 Traffic Enforcement Officers charged 25 drivers for excessive speeding and their vehicles were impounded.<\/p>\n
Here are some of the statistics and speeds that were observed:<\/p>\n
\u2022 183 km\/hr in an 80 km\/hr zone \u2013 this vehicle also did not have insurance<\/p>\n
\u2022 139 km\/hr in a 50 km\/hr zone \u2013 this driver did not have a driver\u2019s licence<\/p>\n
\u2022 165 km\/hr in an 80 km\/hr zone<\/p>\n
\u2022 114 km\/hr in a 50 km\/hr zone \u2013 this was a Class 7N driver<\/p>\n
\u2022 128 km\/hr and 129 km\/hr in an 80km\/hr zone \u2013 both drivers were Class 7N<\/p>\n
\u2022 127 km\/hr in an 80 km\/hr zone \u2013 Class 7N driver.<\/p>\n
\u2022 129 km\/hr in an 80 km\/hr zone \u2013 Class 7N driver.<\/p>\n
Four vehicles were travelling more than double the posted speed limit when stopped by police, while 12 vehicles were travelling faster than the highest legal speed in B.C.
