Whitecaps FC are honoured to have brothers Joshua and Caleb Nsumbu from BC Children’s Hospital as Kid Captains for Sunday’s match against Minnesota United FC.<\/p>\n
Joshua and Caleb have spent much of their young lives at BC Children\u2019s Hospital. Joshua\u2019s journey began when he was just a year old, and months of unexplained fevers led to a diagnosis of chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), a rare immune system disorder. When Caleb was born, the family learned he had the same condition. As part of their life-saving medical plan, both boys have undergone bone marrow transplants made possible by their devoted uncle, who has travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo to be their donor. Today, Joshua and Caleb continue to receive care from their dedicated BC Children\u2019s medical team. But these two mighty brothers don\u2019t let their challenges stop them from living life to the fullest. Joshua enjoys playing soccer and performing with his school\u2019s rock band, while Caleb loves practicing handstands, caring for his puppy, and playing adaptive soccer<\/p>\n
