Additional community-based shelters will remain open in Surrey this weekend due to heavy rainfall and overnight temperatures dropping.<\/p>\n
Environment Canada<\/a> said Saturday (March 14) that temperatures in White Rock are expected to drop to 2\u02daC overnight. Rain is expected to start on Sunday afternoon and continue throughout the week. <\/p>\n The Homelessness Services Association of B.C. issued an alert on Saturday (March 14) because tempatures dropping and heavy rainfall is expected.<\/p>\n The following community-based shelters in Surrey and Delt will be open on Saturday (March 14) through Monday (March 16) night , according to a bulletin from the Surrey-White Rock Extreme Weather Response team.<\/p>\n \u2022 Surrey Alliance Church: 13474 96th Ave. between 9 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. The site is accessible through the breezeway entrance in the rear parking lot. No pets. For adults 19+. There are 30 mats available.<\/p>\n \u2022 South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre EWR: 14601 20th Ave. between 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. The site is accessible near the lower parking lot. The site is pet-friendly and pet accessible. For adults 19+. Couples welcome. 45 mats available.<\/p>\n \u2022 NightShift Ministries: 10635 King George Blvd., 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. This site is not wheelchair-accessible and cannot accommodate pets or carts. For adults 19+. 16 mats available.<\/p>\n \u2022Surrey Welcome Hub: 13545 King George Blvd. from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. The site is not wheelchair-accessible. Can accommodate couples. Snacks and hot beverages served. No pets or cart storage available. 16 mats available.<\/p>\n \u2022Shimai Transition House: 13327 100A Ave. Operates between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Intake is open between 8 p.m. and midnight. Wheelchair accessible and pet friendly (some restrictions may apply). Coffee, tea, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, waffles, and snacks provided. Cart storage, showers, and laundry are available. Bus ticket provided upon exit. Six mats for women.<\/p>\n \u2022Pacific Community Resources Society: 10453 Whalley Blvd. Operates between 7:00 pm and 7:00 am. Final intake at 11pm (if no guests by 11pm site will close for the night). Can accommodate 8 youth 24 years of age and under. No cart storage available. Hot meals served, showers and laundry available. Bus tickets provided upon exit.
