Game Day: Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues<\/p>\n
Less than 24 hours ago, the Winnipeg Jets <\/a>shocked the league-best Colorado Avalanche <\/a>with a 3-1 <\/a>victory at Canada Life Centre, earning a massive two points in their playoff race on Saturday. Now, less than a day later, they\u2019ll have an opportunity to do it again as they welcome the St. Louis Blues <\/a>to town for another afternoon clash.<\/p>\n Winnipeg grabbed a pair of goals in the middle frame on Saturday. Kyle Connor opened the scoring with his 30th, joining Jets legend Dale Hawerchuk as the only players with eight 30-goal campaigns in Jets history, before Alex Iafallo added his 11th to make it 2-0. Winnipeg held that lead for most of the game until Colorado got some life with just over a minute to go in the third period on Martin Necas\u2019 31st. Luckily for the Jets, it didn\u2019t end up mattering, as Cole Perfetti iced the game with an empty-netter shortly after for his ninth, snapping Winnipeg\u2019s two-game losing skid. The Jets improved to 27-28-10, while Connor Hellebuyck was lights out with 28 saves.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, it was great. You know, the details were there. We had a lot of jump. We played together,\u201d said Hellebuyck on his club\u2019s performance <\/a>Saturday. \u201cVery little mistakes. And, you know what, some help from DeMelo blocking some goal-line shots. So, yeah, we had it all.\u201dSt. Louis continues to roll, having won six of its last seven games (6-0-1), and is currently riding a two-game winning streak. The Blues are coming off a 3-2 overtime win over the Edmonton Oilers <\/a>on Friday, a game in which they trailed by a pair but managed to climb out of the hole to steal the extra point. Robert Thomas was the overtime hero with his 16th, while Joel Hofer turned aside 36 shots to help St. Louis improve to 27-29-10.<\/p>\n Winnipeg and St. Louis are tied with 64 points, with both clubs sitting six points back of WC2.<\/p>\n It\u2019s the second-last meeting of the season between the two clubs, who battled through a seven-game series in last year\u2019s playoffs. The season series is tied 1-1 after St. Louis took the first meeting 1-0 on Dec. 17 and Winnipeg responded with a 3-1 win on Jan. 20.
