{"id":538310,"date":"2026-03-15T16:24:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T16:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/538310\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T16:24:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T16:24:12","slug":"two-men-facing-charges-after-incidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/538310\/","title":{"rendered":"Two men facing charges after incidents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A judge has &#8216;dismissed&#8217; the Ontario government\u2019s request to stop the Al-Quds Day rally in downtown Toronto, allowing it to proceed Saturday afternoon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Two men are facing charges following separate incidents at the Al-Quds Day demonstration in downtown Toronto on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/65437\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/65437\/\">news release<\/a> issued Sunday, Toronto police say the protest took place in the University Avenue and Armoury Street area, noting that counter-demonstrators were also present.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police say two unrelated incidents during the event led to arrests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">During one incident, it\u2019s alleged a man participating in the counter-demonstration confronted a participant in the Al-Quds demonstration who was holding a stick with an Islamic Republic of Iran flag attached.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/VAKJPZPGIRHRZET2A3GOO2C3XY.JPG\"  width=\"800\" height=\"533\"\/>TPS Police stand by as protesters and counter-protesters demonstrate by the U.S. Consulate during a rally for Al-Quds Day, in Toronto, on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
