Doja Cat<\/a> has praised Chappell Roan<\/a>\u2018s \u201cattitude\u201d in a candid new video revealing her borderline personality disorder (BPD) diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Following Roan\u2019s now-viral encounter with hordes of paparazzi in Paris \u2013 in which the pop star said she felt \u201cdisregarded as a human\u201d and turned the tables by filming them<\/a> \u2013 Doja weighed in on a new TikTok<\/a> video praising her authenticity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve learned from a very young age to pretend that I like stuff, to pretend that I\u2019m happy, to pretend that I don\u2019t like stuff that I do, to appear like everything is OK,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd it caught up with me, and I think it always does for people. I\u2019m now struggling with BPD.\u201d<\/p>\n

Making a link between Roan\u2019s unabashed honesty and her own attempts to mask the condition \u2013 which is characterised by emotional instability and intensity<\/a> \u2013 she said the way people were treating Roan \u201cfor showing her discomfort\u201d was similar to the way she had often felt while dealing with her BPD.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love that she can be uncomfortable comfortably in front of people and protect herself and be honest,\u201d Doja said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to learn how to be honest. I love that she can do that without hurting people. She hasn\u2019t hurt one person by being herself, and that shows that I can do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doja Cat defends Chappell Roan\u2019s recent encounter with paparazzi via TikTok:<\/p>\n

The rapper was also in agreement with Roan about the paparazzi, adding: \u201cTo be like \u2018fuck the paparazzi\u2019 is the best way to be, because fuck them.\u201d<\/p>\n

She further alluded to a culture of online autograph scalpers, where people \u201cpose as fans and ask for signatures.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a person in this profession, I do this, there are people who are not fans that show up and they want you to sign stuff, and they go and they sell it wherever,\u201d she said, pointing out that \u201cartists aren\u2019t just ignoring people because they\u2019re full of themselves\u201d.<\/p>\n

She rounded off her video by reiterating that people should \u201clet [Roan] have an attitude,\u201d and said that the incident inspired her: \u201cI would love to have one as well, and I fucking will, hopefully in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

The recent Paris incident is far from the only time that the former NME Cover star<\/a>\u00a0has called out intrusive behaviour from fans and paparazzi.<\/p>\n

Back in 2024, she divided opinions when she compared fame to \u201can abusive ex-husband\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and vented about the normalisation of extreme fan behaviour including \u201cstalking, talking shit online, [people who] won\u2019t leave you alone, yelling at you in public.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to that, she had taken to\u00a0TikTok<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0share her thoughts on \u201cweird\u201d and \u201ccreepy\u201d followers<\/a>, calling out the\u00a0\u201cpredatory behaviour\u201d of so-called \u201csuperfans\u201d<\/a>\u00a0that includes \u201cnonconsensual physical and social interactions\u201d, and also\u00a0hit back at photographers who yelled at her on the VMAs red carpet.<\/a><\/p>\n

Her statements have since been applauded by celebrities like\u00a0Miley Cyrus<\/a>,\u00a0Stevie Nicks<\/a>,\u00a0Rachel Zegler<\/a>, and\u00a0Daniel Craig<\/a>, the latter saying he admires \u201cthe guts to say those things\u201d.\u00a0Olivia Rodrigo<\/a>\u00a0also revealed that Roan has been\u00a0a key support figure in helping her deal with an \u201coverwhelming\u201d entertainment industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Doja is the latest celebrity to come out in Roan\u2019s defence since footage of the incident went viral. Earlier this week, Noah Kahan posted a video on social media in support of the pop singer, while Boy George urged her to \u201cown\u201d her fame<\/a>.<\/p>\n
