Fans that came to see James Rodriguez\u2019s MLS debut at BC Place<\/a> were treated to an offensive onslaught by the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The score was 5-0 before the Colombian soccer legend subbed into the match for Minnesota United. The Whitecaps won 6-0, coming just one goal shy of their all-time biggest MLS blowout.<\/p>\n

With a number of the 23,885 fans in attendance wearing yellow Colombia jerseys, the crowd began to buzz as Rodriguez warmed up early in the second half. He was greeted to some cheers, but also boos from Whitecaps supporters once he entered the match.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez subbed into the game in the 64th minute, 13 minutes earlier than Thomas M\u00fcller. The former Bayern Munich teammates shared the pitch, marking the first time in MLS history that one match featured two FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winners.<\/p>\n

The Whitecaps improved to a perfect 4-0 in MLS play, which is tied for the league lead with LAFC. Their only blip this season was a 3-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders in Concacaf Champions Cup action on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was more than we even hoped for,\u201d Whitecaps head coach Jesper S\u00f8rensen said of the bounce-back performance. \u201cI think that we really came out strong. Even though it was only two-and-a-half days since we played last game, I think the players looked fresh and looked really eager to come out here and push the pace, and play with great quality I have to say. It was a great game obviously, and we\u2019re very happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Whitecaps\u2019 next match is Wednesday against the Sounders in Spokane, as they look to advance in Concacaf Champions Cup play. Vancouver\u2019s next home match is Saturday night against the San Jose Earthquakes.<\/p>\n
