The Bills claimed the veteran cornerback. But the saga was just beginning.<\/p>\n<p>Slay refused to report to Buffalo. Instead, he didn&#8217;t play the rest of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Now, he wants to get back on the field, but there&#8217;s only one team he&#8217;ll do it for: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/nfl\/philadelphia-eagles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Slay played for the Eagles in 2024 and capped that season with a Super Bowl title.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, he left for the Steelers, but he actually ended his season by attending an Eagles playoff game.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, Slay has an affinity for Philadelphia that isn&#8217;t matched by his overall desire to play football wherever it takes him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo team can call me but Eagles. No team can call me, everybody knows,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/darius-slay-no-team-can-call-me-but-the-eagles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Slay said in a clip on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Slay is one of the best cornerbacks of this era, earning the nickname &#8220;Big Play Slay&#8221; for a reason.<\/p>\n<p>He also, apparently, is a picky guy.<\/p>\n<p>The Bills essentially lost out on a key cornerback thanks to the Slay mishap, because they had to waive J&#8217;Marcus Ingram to make space, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/nfl\/houston-texans\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texans<\/a> claimed Ingram.<\/p>\n<p>Once Slay never showed up, Buffalo was a cornerback short.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the Bills certainly would want nothing to do with the free agent Slay.
