The call from a B.C. resident to report the fraudulent use of a credit card to an Ontario business thwarted a heist and led to charges for a man from Brampton.<\/p>\n

The botched fraud happened on Nov. 24 after a business on Technology Drive in Peterborough took six orders from a customer over the phone, the Peterborough Police Service says.<\/p>\n

But the business got a call while loading the orders onto a truck, and a resident in B.C. told employees that their credit card had been used in a fraud.<\/p>\n

Employees stopped loading the order and police say three male suspects were arrested when police arrived.<\/p>\n

Peterborough police say a 51-year-old man from Brampton, a 23-year-old man from Etobicoke and a 36-year-old man from Newmarket were all arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.<\/p>\n

All of the accused were released on an undertaking and were scheduled to appear in court Jan. 6 to answer to the charges. The names of the accused were not released.<\/p>\n
