Before Paramount+<\/a> and HBO Max<\/a> officially combine into one due to Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s mer<\/a>g<\/a>er<\/a>, it has been confirmed that the company has acquired another popular streaming service.<\/p>\n

Per Deadline, the company is set to absorb BET Networks<\/a>\u2018 BET+<\/a>, which will then be folded into Paramount+ starting in June. This move comes after Paramount acquired Tyler Perry Studios<\/a>\u2018 equity stake in BET+. All of Perry\u2019s growing library of films and TV shows will be transferred to Paramount+, along with all the original and acquired content currently available on BET+. Current BET+ app users are expected to be offered a discount to subscribe to Paramount+ after the two streamers have finally merged.<\/p>\n

What did the BET Networks president say about Paramount+\u2019s BET+ acquisition?<\/p>\n

In his company email, BET Networks president Louis Carr assured his team that this merger is \u201cthe next powerful step\u201d in BET\u2019s growth, as this will allow them to expand the reach and visibility of BET+\u2019s original content. He also confirmed that the BET\u2019s linear channel and BET Studios will continue to operate and be fully active, as BET Digital will remain central to their multiplatform strategy.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we continue to drive BET\u2019s growth, our stories have to live in more places. Beginning in June, we are expanding our reach by making Paramount+ the new home for BET+ content. This powerful next step ensures the stories we champion, the creators we support, and the culture we represent go further than ever before,\u201d Carr wrote. \u201cOur celebrated Black storytelling will live alongside Paramount\u2019s premium series, sports, specials, and films, where it will be clearly branded, prominently featured, and easy to find in the BET Hub.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWhat I want you to take away today is this: BET remains strong because of you, your creativity, your resilience, and your unwavering belief in the power of our stories. This moment is about growth and about ensuring BET\u2019s voice continues to shape culture at an even greater global scale.\u201d<\/p>\n
