Carlos Alcaraz<\/a>\u2019s stellar start to the 2026 season could become even more interesting at the Miami Open presented by Itau<\/a>.<\/p>\n The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings will begin his pursuit of a second Miami title against #NextGenATP star Joao Fonseca<\/a> or Fabian Marozsan<\/a>, with fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> also in his half of the draw.<\/p>\n View the full Miami singles draw<\/a><\/p>\n In December, Alcaraz played the Brazilian in an exhibition match at a baseball stadium in Miami. Three months later, they could meet again, this time for their first Lexus ATP Head2Head Series clash. Fonseca will need to battle past Marozsan, who beat him last year in Rome, to set the blockbuster. The Brazilian just pushed Sinner to two tie-breaks in the fourth round at the BNP Paribas Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n Fonseca reached the third round of an ATP Masters 1000 event for the first time last year in Miami, where he defeated Learner Tien<\/a> and Ugo Humbert<\/a> before eventually falling to Alex de Minaur<\/a>.<\/p>\n Second seed Jannik Sinner<\/a>, fresh off his Indian Wells victory, will begin his bid to complete the \u2018Sunshine Double\u2019 when he faces Damir Dzumhur<\/a> or a qualifier\/lucky loser in his opening match. The 24-year-old owns a 19-3 record in Miami according to the Infosys ATP Win\/Loss Index and has reached the final in three of his four appearances.<\/p>\n The Italian, who triumphed in Miami in 2024, is in the same quarter as seventh seed Felix Auger-Aliassime<\/a>. Auger-Aliassime will face Marton Fucsovics<\/a> or a qualifier\/lucky loser in his second-round match. <\/p>\n A potential Indian Wells semi-final rematch awaits Sinner in Miami, where he could face third seed Alexander Zverev<\/a> again in the last four. Zverev will begin his campaign against wild card Martin Damm<\/a> or Jacob Fearnley<\/a>. Eighth seed Ben Shelton<\/a> is in the same quarter as Zverev and will face Matteo Arnaldi<\/a> or Alexander Shevchenko<\/a> in the second round. <\/p>\n Ninth seed Daniil Medvedev<\/a>, who has made a resurgent start to 2026 with titles in Brisbane and Dubai before reaching the Indian Wells final, will start his Miami campaign against Aleksander Kovacevic or Rei Sakamoto<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sixth seed Taylor Fritz<\/a> is in Alcaraz\u2019s quarter and could face the Spaniard in the last eight should both reach that stage.
