He began his career at WKLJ Sparta WI and later worked as Program Director of WHBY Appleton and Farm Director of WBAY and WBAY-TV Green Bay before joining WGN. Samuelson would become the best-known agricultural broadcaster in the country at WGN between his daily farm reports and weekly commentary later syndicated as the National Farm Report. He also hosted and produced the U.S. Farm Report television series. Samuelson was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>WGN Radio VP\/General Manager Mary Boyle said, \u201cOrion Samuelson\u2019s name resonates very much like his signature voice. It\u2019s difficult to articulate the significance of his broadcasting career. While he was the farmer\u2019s champion to be sure, his uniquely informative, friendly style developed broad rapport with everyday listeners as well.  A sixty year relationship with the WGN Radio audience educating us on many things, among them, if you eat, you\u2019re involved in agriculture. A consummate gentleman with an inspirational work ethic, equally at ease with kids in a 4-H competition or  presidents. Meeting and working with Orion is a privilege I will forever hold dear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Orion Samuelson told great stories. He talked Ag policy with JFK. He was portrayed by Harry Shearer on \u201cMiami Vice.\u201d He was an overall cool guy.
