Australian Olympic bronze medallist Harry Garside and 2025 World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) Champion Matt Hauser are set to participate in the inaugural Gold Coast T100 Triathlon<\/a> this coming weekend. The event marks the opening stop of the Professional Triathletes Organisation<\/a>\u2018s 2026 T100 \u2018Race To Qatar\u2019.<\/p>\n

Garside, who won bronze in boxing at Tokyo 2020, will compete in the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) signature 100km triathlon. The distance comprises a 2km swim, 80km bike, and 18km run. Garside is using the challenge to test himself outside of the boxing ring alongside a group of former school friends.<\/p>\n

Harry Garside said \u201cI can\u2019t wait for this event. I\u2019m really excited to push myself in a completely different environment and seeing what I\u2019m capable of. Boxing will always be a huge part of who I am, but right now I\u2019m enjoying learning, being uncomfortable again and saying yes to new challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt Hauser, the 2025 WTCS Champion, will also take part in the weekend\u2019s festivities by joining the amateur field for the Gold Coast 10km run. Hauser has publicly invited Olympic champion Alex Yee to pace him in the event. Yee is currently on the Gold Coast for a training camp.<\/p>\n

The event also features Supercars driver Will Davison in the Olympic distance triathlon, while pit lane reporter Riana Crehan will tackle the full 100km course. These amateur participants join a professional field that includes PTO\u2019s world top 20 female triathletes, led by Australian athlete Ellie Salthouse.<\/p>\n

The Gold Coast T100 is delivered by Events Management Queensland (EMQ) as part of a multi-year deal with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO). The event is expected to provide a significant economic boost to the region ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n

Ben Mannion, Chief Executive Officer of Events Management Queensland, said \u201cWe\u2019re really excited to be bringing the T100 event to the Gold Coast which will inject an estimated US$20 million into the Gold Coast and Queensland economy. The T100 is one of the most exciting events to come to this city and is another opportunity to celebrate our sporting culture and passion ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.\u201d<\/p>\n

PTO\u2019s T100 Triathlon World Tour is designated by World Triathlon as the official world championship for long distance triathlon following a long-term partnership with the event organiser and triathlon\u2019s international governing body. The 2026 season features nine stops, including Singapore, San Francisco, and the French Riviera, before concluding in Qatar in December.<\/p>\n

EMQ is an event management company owned by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland. It manages several high-profile fixtures including the ASICS Gold Coast Marathon and the Pan Pacific Masters Games.<\/p>\n
