A new person will lead Team Canada into upcoming men’s hockey competitions.<\/p>\n
Doug Armstrong stepped down as general manager of the team, sources confirmed to Sportsnet on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
In a return to best-on-best action over the past two years, Armstrong led Team Canada to gold at the 4 Nations Face-Off and silver at the Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n
Armstrong, 61, took over the position in 2024. He had also been set to serve as GM for the 2022 Olympics before the pandemic prevented NHL players from attending.<\/p>\n
The Sarnia, Ont., native also plans to step down from his role as general manager of the St. Louis Blues after the season, with a succession plan already in place as Alexander Steen will take over.<\/p>\n
