Then mark your calendar for 9am on Thursday, March 19. That\u2019s when reservations open for the season. Come prepared to book immediately; last year, the website logged 7,000 reservations on opening day! Here\u2019s where you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parks.on.ca\/reservations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"make your reservation\">make your reservation<\/a>. The Parks of the St. Lawrence dot the shore of the St. Lawrence River from the 1000 Islands to the Quebec border.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian Geographic highlights Ottawa\u2019s founding<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s Ottawa\u2019s 200th birthday this year and, in honour of the occasion, Sarah Brown of Canadian Geographic takes a <a href=\"https:\/\/canadiangeographic.ca\/articles\/it-made-the-wild-west-look-tame-a-look-back-at-the-birth-of-bytown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"fascinating look back\">fascinating look back<\/a> at the capital\u2019s early days. (They \u201cmade the Wild West look tame,\u201d says one expert.)<\/p>\n<p>Cirque du Soleil tickets are available<\/p>\n<p>News for those who like to plan far in advance: Cirque du Soleil is bringing its show <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cirquedusoleil.com\/canada\/ottawa\/luzia\/buy-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"Luzia\">Luzia<\/a> to a big top in the parking lot of Ottawa\u2019s St. Laurent Shopping Centre from September 10 to October 18 this year. The artistic acrobatic show promises to virtually transport the audience to a variety of locales in Mexico, from a sunny beach to a smoky dancehall. Tickets are available now.<\/p>\n<p>Balloon fest entertainment lineup will be announced soon<\/p>\n<p>Eager to find out what live entertainment the organizers of the Festival de montgolfi\u00e8res de Gatineau have booked this year? The festival will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/2087671025352851\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"announcing the lineup\">announcing the lineup<\/a> on Monday, March 23, at 7am.<\/p>\n<p>Downtown Smiths Falls Music Festival tickets are available<\/p>\n<p>Tickets to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.downtownsf.ca\/downtown-music-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"Downtown Smiths Falls Music Festival\">Downtown Smiths Falls Music Festival<\/a> (Saturday, September 12) went on sale last week. A new independent bookstore, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/p\/Cover-To-Cover-61581788985929\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"Cover to Cover\">Cover to Cover<\/a>, opened at 88 King Street West in Brockville at the end of January. This week, it\u2019s hosting mermaid readings for March Break on Thursday, March 19 (1:30pm to 3pm) and Friday, March 29 (10am to 11:30am). Come summer, the owners plan to offer a book club, local author readings and more. The shop is definitely on my list to check out, next time I\u2019m in Brockville.<\/p>\n<p>Kingstonlicious events still have space<\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s Kingstonlicious event (a festive dinner at Le Jardin) is sold out. However, tickets are still available for the two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitkingston.ca\/kingstonlicious\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"Kingstonlicious events next week\">Kingstonlicious events next week<\/a>: a family-style Italian meal at Heist Restaurant on Tuesday, March 24, and a dinner\/cooking class at Juniper Caf\u00e9 on Wednesday, March 25. <\/p>\n<p>Get out your binoculars, birdwatchers<\/p>\n<p>Spring is prime time for birdwatching. Not only are many birds migrating between their winter and summer habitats, but the leafless state of deciduous trees makes them easier to see. Wondering what birds you are most likely to see when? (According to the guide, birds of prey, a variety of gulls and song sparrows are all likely to be appearing in our region right around now.)<\/p>\n<p>Register now for a May fundraising walk in Ottawa<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hike-for-hospice-care-ottawa-2026-steps-of-compassion.raiselysite.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"Hike for Hospice Care Ottawa\">Hike for Hospice Care Ottawa<\/a> is a major fundraising event for local hospice facilities, which provide compassionate care for people facing end-of-life illnesses. You can sign up now to participate in a 5km fundraising walk on Sunday, May 31.
