Kristin Cabot, the former HR executive at the center of the Coldplay kiss cam scandal, sat down with Oprah Winfrey in her first on-camera interview to share new details about the viral moment<\/a> that caused a controversy in July 2025. <\/p>\n

While attending a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts last summer, Cabot and a colleague, Andy Byron, then the CEO of the company Astronomer, were seen on a kiss camera embracing. When Cabot quickly covered her face and Byron ducked out of sight, Coldplay\u2019s lead singer Chris Martin joked to the crowd that the duo must be \u201cvery shy\u201d or \u201chaving an affair.\u201d <\/p>\n

After the incident, Byron was first to resign from the company,<\/a> followed by Cabot<\/a>, who also filed a petition for divorce<\/a> from her husband, Andrew Cabot, in August 2025.<\/p>\n

During her first and only on-camera interview, Cabot appeared on \u201cThe Oprah Podcast\u201d<\/a> and told Winfrey that she and her estranged husband \u201chad decided to separate and were living apart and planning for a divorce\u201d four to six weeks before the concert.<\/p>\n

Cabot also explained that Byron told her that he and his wife were also living apart and planning to divorce, which he said had been \u201cmany years in the making.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabot told Winfrey that her estranged husband was also in attendance at the Coldplay concert, a fact that she learned when her daughter texted as Cabot was walking into the event.<\/p>\n

Cabot went on to explain how she reacted when she heard that her husband was also there. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd in my mind, I thought, \u2018Well, is this going to be weird if he sees me with Andy?\u2019\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cOr you run into him,\u201d Winfrey added.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, if I run into him. But then I was like, I\u2019m in Gillette Stadium. There\u2019s 55,000 people here. I\u2019m probably not going to run into him,\u201d she recalled. \u201cBut he knows how closely Andy and I worked together. He knows we (socialized), got lunches and got drinks. It was fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he knew that there was a relationship there,\u201d Winfrey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes. He knows the nature of my work,\u201d Cabot said.<\/p>\n

When the kiss cam panned to Cabot and Byron, Cabot said she experienced \u201ca moment of total horror.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy immediate thought was, \u2018Oh, my God, my husband\u2019s in the building.\u2019 He was there with someone else and I knew that and that was great and fine. But he and I were in the midst of our separation, incredibly amicable. To this day, he\u2019s been one of the biggest supporters of me through all of this. He\u2019s an incredible man,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd the last thing I wanted to do was embarrass him. And that was my first thought when I saw myself in that in that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabot said that day was the first time she and Byron shared any physical affection with each other. She also said she didn\u2019t hear Martin\u2019s comments suggesting that she was having an affair. Instead, she was more focused on her estranged husband\u2019s reaction.<\/p>\n

\u201cAndrew comes from an incredibly private family in the Boston area, and I just knew in my head like the public embarrassment is not something that would have gone over well,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In December 2025, Cabot spoke out about the viral moment for the first time in an interview with The New York Times<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cI made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,\u201d Cabot said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That\u2019s the price I chose to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabot also told the Times<\/a> that she received death threats after the incident. As a result, her children \u201cwere afraid that I was going to die and they were going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n
