Transit riders and drivers could run into lane closures, detours and temporary bus stops downtown in place for Brampton\u2019s multi-million dollar Riverwalk and construction on the\u00a0Downtown Brampton Transit Hub\u00a0project.<\/p>\n

There is already a lane closure in place for construction on the Riverwalk project, with one lane temporarily closed on Scott Street<\/a> between Church Street and the Scott Street Bridge over Etobicoke Creek.<\/p>\n

That closure will last until April 1, as crews build a temporary alternate channel to safely reroute Etobicoke Creek while the enhanced flood protection channel is built.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s more construction slated to start in downtown Brampton as part of the Downtown Brampton Transit Hub project<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The parking garage at 8 Nelson St. W. is undergoing renovations, with \u201ccritical underground parking garage repairs\u201d starting on March 30.<\/p>\n

\u201cConstruction will result in temporary detours and the closure of the north platform of the Downtown Transit Terminal,\u201d the city says.<\/p>\n

The construction will lead to several Brampton Transit and GO Transit bus routes moving to temporary on-street bus stops:<\/p>\n

Route 561 Z\u00fcm Queen West Westbound \u2013 Temporary Stop on George Street, south of Nelson Street.
\nRoute 1\/1A Queen Westbound \u2013 Temporary Stop on George Street, south of Nelson Street.
\nRoute 52 McMurchy \u2013 Temporary Stop on George Street, north of Nelson Street.
\nGO Transit Bus Stop \u2013 Route 31\/33 towards Toronto \u2013 Temporary Stop on Main Street, north of Nelson Street.
\nGO Transit Bus Stop \u2013 Route 31\/33 towards Guelph \u2013 Temporary Stop on Main Street, north of Theatre Lane (at Church Street).
\nGO Transit Bus Stop \u2013 Route 37 towards Guelph \u2013 Temporary Stop on Main Street, north of Theatre Lane (at Church Street).<\/p>\n

The South Platform at the Downtown Transit Terminal will stay open, and GO Transit train platforms will not be impacted.<\/p>\n

Construction is expected to wrap with the platform reopened \u201cin late summer 2026,\u201d the city says.<\/p>\n

Starting Monday, March 30, the Downtown Transit Terminal North Platform will close due to repairs at the 8 Nelson Square parking garage.<\/p>\n

The South Platform and Customer Service Counter will remain open.<\/p>\n
