ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.\u00a0\u2013 The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s tennis team won\u00a0a pair of matches Tuesday in Florida, earning a 6-1 win over St. Norbert College and a 5-2 win over Colby Sawyer College.<\/p>\n
In the first match, UW-Eau Claire set the tone early against St. Norbert, sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The No. 1 duo of\u00a0Pablo Rincon\u00a0and\u00a0Danylo Ripeckjy<\/a>\u00a0earned a 6-2 victory, while\u00a0Sam Murillo<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Billy Hughes<\/a>\u00a0matched that score at No. 2. At No. 3,\u00a0Andrew Mueller<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ethan Leeser<\/a>\u00a0completed the sweep with a 6-3 win.<\/p>\n The Blugolds continued their strong play in singles, winning five of six courts.\u00a0Billy Hughes<\/a>\u00a0picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 3, while\u00a0Logan Carroll<\/a>\u00a0added a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 6. At No. 4,\u00a0Sam Murillo<\/a>\u00a0battled to a three-set win, as did\u00a0Danylo Ripeckjy<\/a>.\u00a0Ethan Leeser<\/a>\u00a0earned a 6-1, 7-6 win at No. 5 to round out the Blugolds’ points.<\/p>\n In the second match of the day, Eau Claire returned to the court against Colby Sawyer College. Doubles play saw the blugolds take a point winning two of three matches.\u00a0Pablo Rincon\u00a0and\u00a0Danylo Ripeckjy<\/a>\u00a0won thier match 6-2, and\u00a0Andrew Mueller<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ethan Leeser<\/a>\u00a0took down their opponent 6-0.<\/p>\n In singles play, the team won four of their matches. Pablo Rincon and Ethan Leeser<\/a> won their matech in two sets, 6-1, 6-2, and 6-4, 6-2 respectively.
