A Surrey location of Sandbox VR officially opened March 13 for virtual-reality games and experiences.<\/p>\n
Located at King George Hub, the new entertainment business welcomes groups of up to six gamers at a time to play in futuristic worlds in three private rooms. Guests suit up with headsets, haptic vests and motion sensors for full-body immersion.<\/p>\n
Operated by partners, the Surrey location is Sandbox VR\u2019s seventh in Canada and second in B.C., among 70 venues around the world. A Richmond location opened in 2018.<\/p>\n
Surrey franchise owner Jebin Mathew says Sandbox VR is \u201cuniquely positioned\u201d to become a social destination for residents and visitors in the city. \u201cWith its strong youth sports culture, expanding tech community and growing demand for premium entertainment options, Surrey is the perfect home for Sandbox VR\u2019s next-generation immersive experience,\u201d Mathew said.<\/p>\n
The technology allows players to see and interact with one another, creating the feeling of living inside the action together. Gamers can feel \u201cshots\u201d to the chest and blast away at enemy creatures while on 40-minute missions in various worlds.<\/p>\n
