People reported a fire on the 19th floor of a high-rise apartment building. <a href=\"https:\/\/ottawa.citynews.ca\/2026\/03\/15\/2-dead-following-high-rise-fire-in-centretown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">One caller told officials they were trapped by the intense heat on the balcony of the apartment on fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Crews made their way to the 19th storey, where they were met with flames from floor to ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>Responders advanced a hose line and began to search for trapped occupants. Three unconscious residents were found inside the unit, and the fourth resident was rescued from the balcony conscious.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the three people were pronounced dead by paramedics on scene, the third was rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Ottawa police confirmed on Tuesday the third person died in hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Posted Mar 17, 2026 03:37:02 PM.
