{"id":544959,"date":"2026-03-18T17:37:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T17:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/544959\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T17:37:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T17:37:12","slug":"two-vancouver-island-martial-artists-inducted-into-canadian-black-belt-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/544959\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Vancouver Island martial artists inducted into Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two martial artists from Vancouver Island have been inducted into the Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame (CBBHoF).<\/p>\n<p>Fighting legend Stan Peterec and founder of Canada\u2019s Best Karate, Bob Mueller, will be inducted into the hall of fame at a ceremony in Vancouver in October.<\/p>\n<p>Peterec, 67, is a martial arts legend and two-time kickboxing world champion. He\u2019s fought professionally for more than 50 years, trained countless fighters, has never been knocked out, and recently received a Guinness World Record for being the first martial artist to fight professionally across six decades.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, CHEK News covered his <a href=\"https:\/\/cheknews.ca\/at-66-stan-peterec-fights-age-and-red-tape-for-a-place-in-the-guinness-book-1275573\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">difficult journey to earn that record<\/a> as he prepared to fight and cut through red tape in summer 2025.<\/p>\n<p>It was a fight he\u2019d end up winning against opponent Leigh Mueller, who was about two decades his junior.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Bob Mueller studied karate starting in the 1970s in Parksville, before going on to co-found Canada\u2019s Best Karate in 1980. He\u2019s now a premier sports artist.<\/p>\n<p>The pair will join 10 other inductees at an <a href=\"https:\/\/cbbhof2026.rsvpify.com\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawQnnK5leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFJVmlKakFoVmxkZFFwR0V6c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHhRzWUpIC1CKDR28g9Nvarjfg88MxI9KogmfuliueNMoaCPlXKoNN0MNw-c8_aem_kX-taBv22FgP_1LBxa7Tvw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">awards gala on Oct. 10<\/a>. To be inducted into the hall of fame, nominees must have contributed to martial arts in Canada in significant ways, such as teaching world class students, winning several national or international titles or championships, published articles, books or developed websites focusing on martial arts in Canada, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey must also have the true spirit of a martial artist and be of good character that represents a strong role model to those who are coming after,\u201d reads the CBBHoF website.<\/p>\n<p>For Peterec, it won\u2019t be the first hall of fame he\u2019s joined.
