Automotive worker Delroy Shand, 60, of Brampton, says he \u201cneeds a good steak\u201d and not retirement after winning $1 million.<\/p>\n
Shand matched all seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Feb. 4 LOTTO 6\/49 draw for the big win.<\/p>\n
He says he\u2019s been playing the lottery since immigrating to Canada in 1990.<\/p>\n
\u201cI always say yes to Encore, and this time it made me $1 million richer!\u201d he told OLG.<\/p>\n
While picking up his cheque, Shand said his family was thrilled to hear about the windfall and he may purchase a new home.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve kept it quiet,\u201d he shared before admitting, \u201cIt feels fantastic! Today is a touching day for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shand added, \u201cI don\u2019t want to quit work. I love my job. I don\u2019t want to spend my win on anything lavish either. I just want to focus on my family and my retirement. And I think I need a good steak!\u201d<\/p>\n
The winning ticket was bought at Petro-Canada on Eglington Ave. W. in Etobicoke.<\/p>\n

The kitchen design consultant has been playing the lottery with OLG for about 40 years always adding Encore to his tickets so when he took a work break and checked the OLP app he was pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the prize amount popped up on the screen, my heart skipped a beat,\u201d he told OLG. \u201cI had to do a double take because I couldn\u2019t believe what I was seeing! My hands were shaking and I kept blinking at the screen. I felt a rush of adrenaline wash over me. I was at work, so I had to hold it together and act normal, even though my mind was racing nonstop. Throughout every conversation and task, I had to pretend I wasn\u2019t bursting with excitement!\u201d<\/p>\n
Walsh shared the news that night with his wife.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got home from work, set two glasses of wine on the counter, and waited for her to get home. When she walked in, she looked at me and asked, \u2018Why the glasses of wine? What are we celebrating?\u2019 That\u2019s when I told her I won the lottery. The look on her face was priceless \u2014 just pure shock, joy, and disbelief. She was over the moon, and her reaction made my heart swell. Sharing that moment with the woman of my dreams by my side made it feel complete,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Later that week, the father of two and grandfather of five revealed the surprise to his children at a family dinner.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe bought big number balloons that spelled out \u2018$100,000,\u2019\u201d he told OLG.\u00a0 \u201cAt dinner, we had each of our grandchildren hold a balloon and walk into the dining room. Our kids looked confused.\u00a0 One of them asked, \u2018What are these numbers for, Dad? Did you win the lottery or something?\u2019 I calmly said, \u2018Yes,\u2019 and the room went silent for a split second. Then came the wide eyes and hands over mouths. They couldn\u2019t believe it! It was such a beautiful moment full of laughter, hugs, and celebration. Being able to experience that with my wife, kids, and grandkids was something I\u2019ll never forget. It wasn\u2019t just about winning \u2014 it was about sharing the happiness with the people I love most.\u201d<\/p>\n
Walsh plans to save for retirement, invest for the future, and spruce up his \u201965 Mustang.<\/p>\n
The winning ticket was bought at Jamie\u2019s Variety on Dunsdon St. in Brantford.<\/p>\n

Leclaire says he chose the ticket as he saw the number 88 come up and he\u2019s a fan of Boston Bruins hockey player David Pastrnak.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a fan of David Pastrnak and his jersey number is 88. I saw the number 88 on this ticket, so I decided to pick one up,\u201d Leclaire told the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.<\/p>\n
Leclaire has been playing the lottery with OLG for over 40 years and is no stranger to winning big.<\/p>\n
In 2017, he won $1 million with Encore and in 2025, he celebrated a $3 million windfall with Instant Platinum.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though it was my third big win, the feeling was just as intense as the first,\u201d he told OLG. \u201cI shared the news with my brother, and he was so happy for me. It\u2019s great, and I feel really fortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n
Leclaire looks forward to buying a new home and filling it with new furniture and also plans to save a portion of his winnings for the future.<\/p>\n
The winning ticket was bought at Donovan Variety on Kathleen St. in Sudbury.<\/p>\n
A COOL $44-M<\/p>\n
There\u2019s one lucky Ontario lottery winner out there.<\/p>\n
